fire watch

solace and silence. no one for miles and miles and miles. my dream to be a firewatch in a lookout in the sierra nevada, like kerouac in washington, all alone with a radio.
carving trails with dynamite. i punched a hole right into the sky with my hand to have a conversation with god, my man. from my tower, all i can see are the trees, and my dog, and me, and the trees.

will you meet me on the campus hill in like a half an hour? i got an empty space inside my head i'd love to fill with you. with my rosy-colored lenses, i can see the other side to a future i have carefully designed.
i can't hear you. speak up, sleepyhead. look out the window. we're almost there.

dragon city

i had a dream that i was drowning in a river in the woods. the water was crystal clear, and i slowly started waking up again.
i had a dream about your birthday, and i was jealous of your friends. i spent the evening sitting in my car, but i hope you know you mean the world to me.
restless sleeping sucks. imagination sucks.
i had a dream about a city filled with dragons and men. i felt a fleeting sense of yearning, and i slowly started waking up again.

i'm stepping out for just a minute to fill my lungs with someone else. hand-painting bike lanes around the neighborhood. my brush goes on, and on, and on, and on. i can wait as long as you. all the bad ideas come when i am all alone.
sneezing as a form of violence... but are we really kidding. i've re-filled my tea about a hundred times, but my mug goes on, and on, and on, and on. i can wait as long as you. all the worst ideas come when i am all alone.
